Chicago SunTimes:

3 90-Win Seasons since 1950, 5 90-Loss Seasons since 1990 Cubs 231
14 90-Win Seasons since 1950, 0 90-Loss Seasons since 1990 Sox 165

The Sox open up the month of April and the beginning of baseball season unable to gain any ground on the media-story leading Cubs, who inexplicably have led since the 1990's.

Gordon Wittenmeyer writes a CubFluff piece on the 30 minute conversation Ex-Yankees manager Lou Piniella had with former Red Sox prospect Matt Murton, now the Cubs LF'er. Wittenmeyer interviews a former Reds player and mentions that the last time Piniella had this type of conversation with a player, that player (Chris Sabo) went on to hit 25 homers and be MVP. Let the Murton for MVP stories begin.

What is most DISTURBING about todays stories however, is the admission by former Marlins star Derrek Lee, now of the Cubs, that a baseball was indeed INTENTIONALLY thrown at former Twins' star and current Cub RF'er Jacques Jones. If you remember, the Cubs and Tribune reported that the ball was "accidentally" thrown by a zealous fan, in a display of affection towards the player, and not in malice. Of course, the mysterious Trixie who threw the ball, was never identified, and hastily (if not secretly) let go out of a side exit and never charged.

Reports circulated that the Trixie may have been Intoxicated and Under-age, something the Tribune did not want known about its Sheep fanbase. " I don't like they (cub sheep) treated Jacque, throwing a ball at him, and the racist comments, thats uncalled for" said the former Marlins star. Critics (in the national media among them) have long countered that the Cub fanbase isn't as intelligent and friendly as they've long been portrayed, but instead are a drunken, racist group of hooligans. Of course, those comments rarely make the headlines, instead replaced by drunken Trixies in the stands sipping cold Bud's and enjoying the sell-outs.

Lee also details later that "..when it gets malicious...then a guy has to go home and your a little nervous when your getting racist comments and hate mail, and phone calls. Its hard to play like that...........Ive seen a few guys on my team get it, and thats not right"

Best fans in baseball? I think not. And I've been saying this for years.

Ex-Marlins star Lee goes so far to say that he doesn't enjoy the booing, "Do we think its right? No. I'm not going to go to their workplace and yell at them". Lee however flip-flops in a most Tribune-esque way by later saying "Its one thing to boo a guy, I have no problem with that".

Go to ball parks that cub fans have a habit of going to, and ask the locals what they think of them. I remember reading articles about the bad impression some of those fans of the "lovable losers" made in south Florida in 2003. Closer to home, remember AJs homer last year at Wrigley? Yeah, they're real classy, those fans of the "storied" north siders.
