So says ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2814052)
Already, the DC outlets are hoping it isn't true...
Acquiring Briggs Makes No Sense (http://washingtontimes.com/blogs/storyview.php?StoryID=20070327-011112-7971r&TopicsID=skins)

Brady Quinn is a douche.
The good news is that other dumb NFL teams will want to draft that hack. So we can trade the pick and get something good, like an XBOX 360 and some games.

Yeah, ditto.
I can't imagine that Wash would be willing to give up a #6 for a guy clearly unhappy where he is and w/o a long term contract.

Apparently that #6 has been burning a hole in their pockets since they got it. They can't wait to trade it away...

The early news is that they also wanted our 1st round pick and Briggs for their 6 spot, which is bullshit, but straight up briggs for the 6 spot would be ok w/ me. the Bears playing chicken w/ briggs and his sorry ass agent and waiting to see if briggs plays or even shows up for camp is a distraction. get rid of him and don't draft any player who has rosenhaus as an agent ever again.

Only problem I have is the Bears could say "No, if you want him, sign him to an offer sheet." Then they get #6 this year and a top five pick next year after Jason Campbell leads the 'Skins to 4 wins.
On the other hand, no one's signed a franchise player since 2000, IIRC, so maybe the chance to get a really high pick is too tempting to pass up, especially for an OLB.

They absolutely should make them sign him to an offer sheet.

Yep, yep

I've probably said on here before (or the other place) that I want to add depth to the o-line, which I still think you can do in the second and third rounds (the OLB draft class isn't too bad). But if you get the 6th pick from Washington you pick this guy (http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/dt/alanbranch.html). Also, New England has two first round picks. I'm thinking that could possibly be similar to the deal with the Jets a few years ago, in which we got two first rounds picks for our #4 pick. Pozlusky and Dwayne Jarrett will be available then.
Unreal!

If the Bears had the 6 pick they could have a shot at drafting Reggie Nelson! And then we could ditch that anti-semite piece of shit Ricky Manning Jr.
Briggs for the 6th pick in the draft? DO IT NOW!

That was the name I thought of when I heard 6th pick, but he seems to have slipped into the middle of the first round in most mock drafts. Maybe they can move down and get another 2nd rounder too. However, if they stay at six, LaRon Landry should be available.

If the Bears had the 22nd pick, they'd be able to take Nelson. With the 6th pick, you take Landry if you want that position.

angelo has shown time and again if the guy he wants is available he'll take him, no matter how much lower in the draft he's projected to go (see devin hester)

I don't know, Briggs is way too much of an impact player to just let go.
Their "window" gets smaller every day

briggs was a good lb, but a product of our system. if HUNTER HILLENMEYER can be successful, my guess is any above average olb can approach the production of Briggs in the tampa 2

Briggs is literally an impact player, however the #6 would be hard to pass up.
I say we get Grossman a bonafide WR target in Dwayne Jarret, he will make an immediate difference with whoever takes him. He has good size, great height, great hops and sure hands. He is NFL all-star material.
....if we get the pick.

I tend to agree, but Jarret is being projected as a late first rounder. We'd only need to trade up to the 24th pick if we wanted Jarret.

Jarret is slow. And I get a David Terrell vibe from him.
