I don't care how much Rivera doesn't like to blitz, the Bears are just fuckin' cheap, the Lovie situation proves it.

We are being cheap asses. Pay Lovie his money. There are not better options out there. Pay his ass, damn it.

Is Lovie essential to our success? I think not. As far as I'm concerned the whole staff could use an upgrade.yeah but upgrade to what? Quality coaches aren't exactly everywhere these days. He got us the the big dance, that deserves a raise no matter what. IMO.
In a perfect world I would have liked to see Turner go, Rivera stay, and Lovie be a little more open minded on Riv running the D.

Wait so who is responsible for one of the best (when healthy) teams in football?
Jerry Angelo?
Partially, but his draft philosophy has largely come from Lovie's cover-two philosophy.
For instance, we don't likely draft Briggs or Harris under a different coach

yeah---but at a certain point you have to trust your coordinators.
Lovie could have done better, but put that game almost squarely on the shoulders of turner and rivera.
(also Angelo: HOW CAN YOU NOT BE PREPARED FOR MIKE BROWN TO GET INJURED:mad:   ?)
My question is:
Who would be a better coach than Lovie if we let him go? I feel like that he's the best option and we should stick with him. I'd rather not have a rookie or some washed-up bum come and coach a team that's at least 1 year removed from the Super Bowl.

Lovie will get his money. I don't recall seeing anywhere that it's the Bears' responsibility to give him a blank check. They're negotiating a contract and that can take a while when you have exclusive dealing.

Angelo is a Tampa guy who will have a cover 2 coach no matter what, so those guys would have been drafted anyway.

So you say, but notice how JA's drafts got better after Lovie arrived. Hoo noze.
I certainly don't think getting rid of Lovie the year after he took us to a super bowl is a brilliant idea.

Well, remember that Jauron coached for at least one, if not two years, of Angelo's tenure. That didn't help those years.
I like Lovie and want the Bears to keep him. I just don't expect the Bears to bend over and give Bobby Petrino money to Lovie just because the Falcons are retarded.

I think that is why Daniel Manning was drafted. I just don't understand why they didn't draft a better safety, but I'm not Jerry.

After next season for the same amount of money you can have one of three guys: Lovie, Marty or Cowher. I'll hold out. If the Bears win the Super Bowl next season then Lovie earned his contract, if not I would rather pay Cowher that kind of money. They are probably really close in age anyways.

Why? And why are you so convinced Cowher would come here? There's already talk he might be headed to SD
