GF won 10-3, locking up the 1st-round series 2 games to 1.

They advance to the Pioneer League finals to face the Orem Owlz.

The Sox have the clear advantage on paper. They were the best team in the League, while the Owlz barely squeaked into the playoffs.

THIS SEASON: The White Sox finished the season with a record of 51-24, firmly in first place in the North Division. Great Falls compiled the Pioneer League's best record this year and secured the second-half division title to advance to postseason play, where they will meet Helena in a best-of-3 series.

HEAVY HITTER: OF Salvador Sanchez's 97 hits were the most by any player in the Pioneer League this season. The 21-year-old also led the circuit in triples (10), and was second in runs scored (57), fourth in stolen bases (18) and fifth with his .343 batting average. Sanchez's most successful month was July, when he batted .360 with 40 hits -- 12 of them for extra-bases -- and racked up 24 RBIs.

ERA IN LOW PLACES: RHP Juan Moreno's 2.39 ERA was the lowest of any pitcher in the Pioneer League this season. In 16 starts, Moreno went 6-4 with 77 strikeouts over 90 1/3 innings, second most in the league by two-thirds of an inning. Moreno tied with Casper's Jhoulys Chacin and Orem's Robert Fish for the most strikeouts in the league.

EXTRA, EXTRA: 3B C.J. Retherford led the Pioneer League in extra-base hits this season with 47. The 22-year-old smacked a league-leading 30 doubles, four triples and 13 home runs, good for fifth most in the league. He also finished third in the league in slugging percentage (.613) and tied for fourth in runs scored (53). Retherford hit .318 with 48 RBIs and 160 total bases this season.

SEE YOU THERE: LHP Wander Perez led all Pioneer League pitchers in appearances this season with 28. The native of Nizao, Dominican Republic, finished the year 1-0 with a 2.98 ERA and 62 strikeouts over 43 innings. The southpaw improved on his previous season with Bristol of the Rookie-level Appalachian League, where he went 1-0 with a 4.22 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 32 innings across 17 appearances, including one start.
