Since starting my new job which is alot of hard work, I have gone the route of having a beer or few when I get home while relaxing. My mom says i'm an alcoholic, my dad understands as his father was the same way, and my younger siblings are jealous that I cn open a beer when ever I want and not have to worry about the parents caring (they are all under 21, high school and college and grammar school).
So what is it Alcoholic or relaxing after a hard day?

You can't really say..oh this many is an alchoholic or that many is.
An alchoholic cannot stop drinking once they start..if you can have a few beers and that's it..don't worry about it..
I think it is just relaxing..I drink one or two to fall asleep sometimes...

WAIT A SECOND HERE! this fellow Sox fan posts for advice wanting to know if they're on the downhill road to becoming an alcholic (in case no one answered you're question - YES I THINK YOU ARE). They come seeking a little compassion, solace and concern from fellow Sox fans.
And what do they get? "is whiskey beer?" quotes from Police songs? Locusts..?
I'm ashamed to call myself a Sox fan today...

woops, misunderstood the poll. That's what I get for not reading all the options. I picked alcoholic meaning something with alcohol is nice after work.
When I was growing up, and by growing up I mean in high school until today, my dad would crack open a beer after work on Fridays. Sometimes during the week as well. I never understood it.
Then came last year. I worked all week, 9 to 5. Fridays I'd come back to Dekalb (I stayed at home during the week), I'd sit on my balcony, light up a cigarette and drink a beer. The most relaxing thing I've ever experienced.

is your mom serious?
a.) you're 23
b.) you're 23
c.) YOU'RE FUCKING 23
furthermore
you're having a COUPLE beers, not three or four. I would say a majority of the world have a 2-5 beers a night after work. That's why happy hour exists.
Furthermore having 2 beers a day is healthier than having ZERO beers a day.
Now, don't take my word for it b/c I'm a borderline alcoholic (I have at least 5 drinks a day, but I can get away with it b/c I don't have any obligation by day until 2 pm).....but seriously, in most cultures, people have drinks all day, daily (on their lunch break, for example, and after work in England). You're not getting drunk every day, nor are you unable to function without them.

I love drinking as much as the next guy but I always felt weird drinking at home. When I lived in Milwaukee though I drank constantly. Even in the shower...drinking a brew and scrubbing my junk

My Thoughts on Alcohol by F.U. Schettman
When I was in my twenties, I drank to get faced. Beer was beer. Wine had apparently not been invented yet, because there was none anywhere near my partying zones.
As I got into my thirties, I became a little more particular about my alcohol. It was still nice to tie one on, but not too bigly because after all, I hafta drive. And wine had just recently been discovered, along with fine dining!
Now in my forties and I tend to drink wine more often than other alcohol. I used to drink maybe 2 or 3 glasses a week, but have cut back on that during the summer. I never drink to catch a buzz now, rather purely to satisfy my tastebuds. I may have 1 or 2 glasses of beer a week, usually Homebrew by Steve (TM). I can buy a 6-pack of Pyramid Hefeweizen and it will last a month. When I dine out, I usually have a martini (or last night at Havana, we had mojitos) or a glass of cabernet.
So I guess as I have aged, my consumption habits have changed quite dramatically...

it's worth it. your parents sound pretty overprotective. try and figure out if you have any friends who would be willing to move with you, or price out studios and see what it would take for you to get one.
ps are you going to the game tomorrow?

Its not an issue of whether I have people to move in with. The issue is I would have to choose Social life or live on my own. The only true downfall to living at home is I can't bring a chick back from the bar. The badgering from the parents I can tolerate.

People have tried to label me an alcoholic, i say prove it, and they say "oh u drink this much, that much"
My reply is that it does not dominate my life, all my bills are paid, i work, im not starving and i have money saved up. I dont sell items to get a drink fix, i drink when i feel like it and drink enough to when i feel its enough
