i liked how mike hart kept celebrating after the following:

scoring a touchdown to bring his team to 11 points behind

scoring a touchdown to put his team up by one

If Florida and Notre Dame both lose soon, then America wins!

Go Buckeyes!

On a related note, highly-ranked I-AA program Illinois State was upset by the world renowned Bulldogs of Drake University of the non-scholarship Pioneer League last night.

I'd like to throw my $.02 in on this though, as someone who went to a I-AA school. These I-AA schools, especially championship contenders like Appalachian State, are not nearly as bad as people think. In some cases, these schools would finish about .500 in I-A.

It's not unusual for top-flight I-AA teams to beat I-A mid majors. It usually makes for a pretty good game, actually. And it's not all that uncommon for a top mid-major to beat a middling team from a BCS conference. This also usually is a pretty good game.

Throw in the right mix of conditions (a typical big, lumbering Big-10 team vs. a speedy App State team) and the underdog can win. This wasn't a fluke -- App State is a good football team and Michigan, as usual, is overrated.

The BCS conferences aren't quite as superior as they think they are. That is all.

I love college football, but I have to admit that I've mellowed in my old age because I no longer feel as if the fate of the civilized world hangs in the balance each & every Saturday this time of year... hey, the Hawkeyes won!

Any day Michigan AND Notre Dame lose, is a good football day.
That was a hell of a game props to the Hillbillies of Appalachian State for rising up ...and beating a media-driven organization into the ground

At least Wisconsin won and Tennessee lost.

Michigan's defense is really not very good. Lloyd Carr should pack his stuff now. No way he survives this season after UM loses to tOSU again.

App St. is a hippy mountain school, although given its name, I can see how one would think of it as redneck school.

He made a game out of it last year against tOSU, but this years loss will be at home. No way he survives.

Especially when they get beat in the Alamo Bowl.

This is the only thing that saves what was an otherwise bad weekend in my household. We were crushed watching the Notre Dame game. Losing 33-3, scoring the least amount of points since Weis took over the team, was heartbreaking.

Why so much hate for Notre Dame?

They've won the last two 1-AA titles. It's actually a pretty decent-sized school. Their alums took up a good chunk of the bars down here when those games were on.

Pam Ward Not Listening To Her Producer

We actually don't think Pam Ward is a bad broadcaster -- not at all, actually -- but this clip, from her broadcast of the Michigan State-UAB game, seems to imply that she might be deaf. For whatever reason, poor Pam just can't seem to wrap her mind around the score of the Michigan-Appalachian State game. It's like her brain could no longer handle new info; wait until they put that score up on the scoreboard!

LOL
