Who would you rather resign, Jermaine Dye or Joe Crede?
Dye would cost more money and he is 34 years old. He may start to decline in production. Some sites are saying he may make Carlos Lee money.
Crede is hitting the prime of his career at the age of 28. He is argubly the best defensive 3rd baseman in baseball and becoming one of the top offensive 3rd baseman. I believe he would cost between $9-10 mil a year.
My thinking is resign Crede and use the extra money to extend Jon Garland's contract and resign Tadihito Iguchi.

Dye is still an injury liability, last year was his first injury free season in how long. Crede is young. Lose garland, plenty of outfielders around

Dye. If Crede walks, bring up Fields. There aren't 300/40/120 hitting RFs all over free agency. Crede has a shit ton of trade value since he's young and good.

Send Crede to NYY for ARod. Move ARod back to short, bring up Fields. If JR wants to spend for Dye, so be it. Otherwise, Sweeney will do the job.

If I had to pick I'd pick Crede. We've got some talent in the outfield and I'm not sold on Fields yet. Crede is The Goldenboy

Crede..he came up through the Sox farm system. He was developed by the Sox.
He's younger..has more years ahead of him..and will probably only get better..

Dye had a couple of freak injuries, he's not injury prone.
