1. Podsednik LF
2. Erstad CF
3. Konerko 1B
4. Thome DH
5. Dye RF
6. Pierzynski C
7. Crede 3B
8. Iguchi 2B
9. Uribe SS
If Pods is hitting and getting on base like he was in 05, this lineup becomes one of the more FEARED in baseball ...............

With Erstad playing like he has this spring, its like having 2 Iguchi's in your lineup, one at the TOP, the other at the BOTTOM. Wow. If only our pitching were this strong .................................................. ...............

I'm still a little confused about the Erstad/Anderson situation... but besides that, this lineup is killer. And I suppose regardless of which one is playing CF, we're still in good shape anyway.

I think starting Erstad is gonna bite us in the ass. He'll either hit 260 or get injured for two months in May. Without Anderson playing to his potential, there aren't too many other options in CF, but c'mon....

Can I get a refresher on why the Konerko/Thome flippity-switcheroo is happening...
I love the idea of gooch getting a shot at the bottom of the order. I don't love the idea of BA getting pwned again this season.

I am guessing because Paul Konerko is the best hitter on the team. The best hitter bats 3rd.

I like the fact that he made the thread and then posted a reply to it a minute later. :D

Yeah, but it's not like that wasn't the case last year...
It's probably more to switch up the left/lefty of Erstad/Thome, I'll guess. Just wondering if that gets tinkered a bit when Erstad isn't in..

Yea, you're probably right... Its probably to break up the chance of three lefties in a row.
Judging by Spring Training... you could easily rotate PK/Dye/Crede in the three hole.

Because you want your better hitter/contact guy at the #3 spot.
This was a big complaint of mine early on last year, Thome in the #3 hole.
I badly wanted him out of there, and Dye batting 3rd (a famous altercation arose out of this, someone said I thought Thome should be dropped from the team-which prompted questions of my sox integrity etc heh heh)

I dont know if I like Iguchi that low. As much as I think he can have more power and better his numbers, he is such a great sacrifice guy when we need it. If Pods is getting on base, Gooch is like a machine putting the ball in position for Pods to advance. I dont know if Erstad can do that, and frankly I am not sure his hot spring will carry over into the season.
Gooch's OBP last year was a solid .350+ and I dont think Erstad has had that since that 240 hit season back in like 99 or 2000. I forget what year. I think it would be a mistake for us to do it from the get go. Maybe give it a month or so and see how Pods/Erstad are doing then make the switch with Iguchi dropping but for now I dont see why we need more power.

I think the opening day lineup will be
LF-Pods (if healthy, if not then Erstad in LF)
2B-Iguchi
DH-Thome
1B-Konerko
RF-Dye
3B-Crede
C-Pierzynski
CF-Anderson
SS-Uribe
This is the exact lineup that started last year against Sabathia. Remember we are going to most likely be facing Sabathia to start the season.

That lineup would be lovely IMO, but Ozzie seems to feel differently.

I second that. What the hell is so wrong with BA? No wonder his stats suck, he doesn't fucking play.

Pods and Erstad 1 and 2? Blech. That's pretty much defines Punch and Judy right there. And I certainly wouldn't fear a lineup like that.
