After roughing up Wells with 7 runs in the first inning, Danks gave up 6ER in 3.2 IP. Then Floyd comes in and gives up a run before getting an out. Sigh...

Danks looked shitty but I hope it was just nerves. I still support Danks as the 5th starter.

It really depresses me though that we are back to this 5th starter tryouts business...

I never expected much out of the 5th spot. We'll see, ST doesn't count. As long as 5th isn't 03-04 bad and the bullpen is effective like the '05 pen, it won't hurt. And there are no 5th starters in the playoffs.

Yeah..I guess you're right..

QFT

If you get 10-12 wins out of the 5th starter (combined if there is some roster moves) you're in a good spot.

Yeah, at least the offense is on today to make up for the pitching mishaps.

Yeah, meanwhile Floyd comes in and gives up a run on 3 hits in 4 innings.

Looks like no one's just going to come out and grab the 5th starter spot - they'd rather just keep yo-yo'ing back and forth between good and bad outings...

Or maybe (hopefully) Floyd is turning the corner, like all of our starters have done in their last starts.

I'm still pretty disappointed in Danks, though.
