Ex-governor & secretary of state George Ryan lost his appeal that he didn't get a fair trial by a 2-1 vote. More appealsI don't know...maybe to the US Supreme court, but as of today, he is one step closer to jail time.

I know this isn't WSI, but we might want to start copying the standard of using teal for sarcasm.

I have no need for sarcasm colors. I usually lay it down pretty thick.

Ryan should be in custody tomorrow. Why isn't he? Well, having Dan Webb and James Thompson as your counsel never hurts.

The 7th circuit will most likely turn down his motion for the entire court to re-hear arguments (called En banc). Then, Thompson will appeal to the US Supreme Court, who, in my opinion, will accept the case. Oral arguments will be heard in the spring, and a decision likely a year from now. I think the Court wil affirm this ruling, and off to prison (finally) he goes.

He took bribes, was crooked, and failed those who voted for him. He should go to jail.

Now, only if they can get Blago when his term is up!

There was a blurb in the Sun-Times where they said that if you use the phrase "indicted ex-governor of Illinois", you may need to be more specific.

Bail on appeal is par for the course in federal court. State court? Not so much.

I thought he had a decent argument. Sounds like one of the judges agreed.

Who cares about the Willis family? Life can be unbelievably cruel. Let him hear the steel door clang shut already.
