I always wonder about Chinese internet censorship...
...if I register www.tee-en-a-men-skwar.com, does that shit get blocked? What about www.t4ankm4an.com? Are they that clever and English-savvy?

I can't imagine they wouldn't be. It seems as if they have people outside China helping them anyway. I think they look at the content of the site too, which would be a giveaway.

Good point.
So much for Google's "Don't Be Evil" shit. I guess as long as they're Mac-friendly and post an occasional picture of dolphins and candy canes on the ol' home page, it doesn't matter, though. :jagoff:

Tell the Chinese to Google SATC and look at this thread:

Yeah, but it makes sense from a business perspective though. That market is still a gold mine and, let's face it, they have a duty to try to capture it. It would be nice if they would take a stand and say either you get us without the censorship or not at all and I would admire the hell out of them, but if Yahoo! wasn't doing the same thing, that would be bad for them.

Funny, I just spent about an hour watching youtube videos about Tiananmen Sqaure, and I forgot that while 1989 was a most amazing and wonderful year for freedom in Europe, what happened in Beijing was probably the most poignant near-miss in hundreds of years. All the images of Tank Man, the Goddess of Democracy, the protesters scattering when fired upon, the folks being taken to hospitals on park benches and bikes...truly brave people. I can't believe there was about a couple of days when it was possible that China might have a civil war.

That was 17 years ago. I'm sure he's seen the gallows or firing squad long since then.
