Junior Spivey, Lance Broadway, Corwin Malone, Casey Rogowski and 12 others sent down to the minors.
What happened to Junior Spivey? Shit...

Oddly enough, upon hearing the news Junior Spivey bought himself a 40.

Whatever happened to Corwin Malone, that's the question.
He got hurt and missed all of 2004. He never seemed to fully recover and apparently hasn't been the same since Peter Gammons and Co. proclaimed him the "next big thing" for the Sox back in '03.

Our Farm system over the past decade has pretty much churned out crap.. It nice to see that trend die and start turning around the right way.

Yea, because ya know... Mark Buehrle, Carlos Lee, Magglio Ordonez, Joe Crede, Aaron Rowand, Brandon McCarthy... all crap players.

Lets wait and see on McCarthy.. He could be the next Kip Wells.. All talk
So in the past 10 years our farm system has manged 5 total players.. While Minny has how many? Sorry if I want a better farm system so in case someone goes down we have someone ready to step up.
Schueler had a pretty horse shit run there in the 90s as far as drafting goes. He did make the trade for 18 y/o Garland and he did draft Buehrle to his credit.
The garland trade is a steal no matter what I think of Jon.. And thank you for seeing I meant most of the 90's.. unlike others.

When discussing the contributions of the Sox farm system, you have to recognize that KW has done an amazing job trading bust or marginal prospects for actual MLB players.

It's more than 5, but otherwise that's a very good question. For a valid comparison, you have to subtract players the Twins traded for. Also, make sure you don't give them too much credit for guys they drafted with the #1 overall pick in the draft.

It's also hard to get any really good draft picks when the team doesn't finish any lower than third in the last decade or so...

I am just going on the information that he gave us..
Why can't I give them credit for Mauer? Does every #1 pick turn into a stud? The Baseball draft is a crap shoot.. no one knows if they draft someone if they turn into the next Mauer or joe bochard.

Great logic... how many world series titles has that amazing farm system in Minnesota produced? Their best player was a rule 5 draft pick and their second-best pitcher was acquired via trade, as was their closer. They have TWO good players that were drafted and developed in their system. The rest are spare parts and league-average players.
Are you even a Sox fan?

Wait a sec, the White Sox win one world series in 88 years.. and now they have the best thing going.. FYI the twins won it in 87 and 91.. And have won the division for most of the 00's Lets not put the cart before the horse just yet.. and that league avg players seem to be playing better than our "studs"

I can respect their run of division titles in this decade but 91 and 87 are ancient history which have nothing to do with this discussion. And one World Series (especially if it was less than two years ago) is greater than 4 division titles.
I agree with you on the 87-91 thing.. but to say because we won a WS we are better.. I don't know about that.. If we were to make the playoffs this year.. then I can grant that to you.. but, if not it seems as if 05 was more a fluke.. getting everything going our way.

I didn't say that you can't give them credit; I said, "don't give them too much credit." If you're going to compare the Twinks to the Sox "in the past 10 years," you cannot ignore their relative draft position.

you said last ten years!
Ya know what, I'm sick of your crap. Since you've come here, you've done nothing but creates threads to bad mouth the White Sox, turn Sox threads into Twins/Mets/Phillies jackoff threads or just posting like a douchebag... And every time someone debunks your bullshit, you come up with new and creative ways to dance around the fact that you are wrong.
You: The Sox haven't drafted anyone good in 10 years.
I name players that the Sox drafted in the past ten years that are elite at their positions, refuting your bullshit argument.
You: But the Twins churn out player after player
I point out that the Twins haven't won a world championship in the last ten years and that the Sox have, refuting your bullshit argument.
I am done trying to understand what your arguments are based on, what you are trying to prove with the circular logic of your arguments and exactly what you offer to this discussion forum as a whole.
Had me fooled for a few posts, not again. Back on ignore you go.

Its a major crap shoot and thats where good scouts earn their money. Take the sorry ass Royals, they have had high draft picks for a number of years now and what have they developed outside of Sweeney and MacDougal? Forgive me if I missed someone but I dont think I did. In a few years they might be able to add Butler to that list but he still has to prove himself first.
Look at Buehrle, he was the 69th pick over all which would put him in the 3rd round. Ya never know. Just like Zoso pointed out the Sox pitching failures as draft picks.

Wasn't Albert fucking Pujols a 169th round pick? (EDIT: so was Travis Hafner...)
Self-proclaimed king of the draft Billy Beane has produced lots of world campionships with his expansive draft accumen.
Like Maurice stated earlier, its not who you draft or where you draft, but what you produce with the picks. KW turns amatuer draft picks and latin free agent signings (Carlos Lee, etc) into major league talent.

If you want to hold a grudge cause we cant agree on another thread then thats just fine but leave it on that thread.
Nowhere in my post did I mension Beane or the Sox past hitting prospects. Nor did I mension Albert "fucking" Pujols.

I was agreeing with you. Albert "fucking" Pujols... the best fucking player in the world, was drafted when? The seventh or eighth round of the draft? Same for his lefthanded hitting counterpart in Travis "fucking" Hafner.

Same failure to comprehend what other posters are saying

I know who Elif is and he's about 6 yrs younger than I but you just keep on with the conspiracy theory. Maybe you should get help from Shaggy and Scooby to solve the mystery.:jagoff: :)

Great insight. What, you think that drafting 25th is hard to do? Is that why Williams makes more trades than any other GM?

Okay, I am going to bed. Just to leave you all with some happy thoughts about the Sox . . . Have the Sox actually won 3 in a row? Or did I miss something.
We're down to a 40 man ST? roster with three weeks to go and now we start getting a little more serious about it. See the team all at once, etc Can gauge the pitching better, yeah, ST games get more significant.
This Perez guy must a specimen, pulling a calf muscle during a home run trot. Like what he's doing though, 3HRs in 6 games.
I wouldn't mind having season tickets to the Charlotte Knights this summer, man are those fans going to have a team. What a pitching staff and Rogowski, Fields, Sweeney, Owens and Terrero or maybe Anderson - The Sox may keep Terrero, if Pods is back. He's out of minor league options and they probably want BA to play every day down in AAA. And maybe Perez, although if he keeps it up, he'll get picked up by another major league team.
Looks like Pods had fun today. Hope he keeps this up. Not really what we need in a corner OF, but there's already enough power on this team. I am going to like Erstad and Pods and/or Ozuna at the top of the order. You can put 'em on the board!
Speaking of power: the Sox have 28 HRs and 33 2Bs so far. I don't know what that means but compare it to the so called most powerful teams in baseball: NYY at 13/17; BOS at 9/32; and TOR at 12/25. Oh, and the best that money can buy - CUBS at 15/32.
I know it's just ST. But things look pretty good on the position side and offensively. CF and SS are looking great, LF is covered, and today's play by Pods raises our hopes there.
The SPs need to pick it up, and there is a battle for the 5th spot, between a guy with three good pitches and a guy with a 96 mph fastball. The line is "pick it". And the concept of a bullpen with six guys who throw over 95 mph sounds great. Now we have just three weeks to teach them how to just throw at the strike zone. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
