And I find this offensive. Every other mother fucking race/ethnicity has some fancy ass name. African American, Asian, Hispanic, American Indian, and then it's white. How about a little respect? I am more than a color (or lack of color). Gimme Caucasian or Euro-something.

It becomes frustrating whne day after day I hear minorities make racists remarks about white people and it is perfectly fine. However, if a white person says something...well, we know what happens. I don't mean to get "Stockdale" about this, but I am in an environment where the majority of students are African American followed by Latino. I love most of these kids, but the double standard is frustrating in that I wish they could respect my ethnicity not that I want to be able to spout racial slurs.

Think about the majorities and power positions in this country.
Who makes the laws and for the benefit of who?
Who do we elect primarily?
Middle-aged, white, christian males who began in at least the middle-class and are decent looking, have no physical/mental disabilities etc. ( I can elaborate)

There are exceptions, but the majority will fit into most of those categories...

For those lacking a voice or representation at the table in such a diverse nation, they have inherent disadvantages to getting the support, education and acceptance that the majority carries around.

I am not saying it's right, but rather why there is a rift between cultures.
Every group has unique needs and desires, but the majority is the one that gets what it wants. Welcome to democracy...

Yes, but just being white doesn't make you a "majority". The nerve that was hit was the double standard. I swear to whatever higher power you believe in that the ethnic minorities that I am around daily are far more racist and closed-minded than the white people that I associate with. However, that doesn't mean all white people are not racist and open-minded. Obviously there are a ton of ignorant whities out there.

Like PH13, I am irked by the racist phrasing of the poll question (which I realise is from a USG form).

It reminds me of our last census form;

Under the 'ethnicity' bit, there were umpteen and twelvety-five options for people from those parts of the globe that we used to call 'the Colonies' (multiple subdivisions for people with ancestors from Asia, the Americas, Africa, the Caribbean, or of Mixed 'race') but for Euro-types there was only:

White: Irish
White: Scottish
White: Welsh
White: European
White: Other.

Can you guess which is the most-populous country in the UK?

That's right: England. By a fucking mile.
(IIRC it is England: c. 50 Million; Scotland c. 5 million, Wales c. 3 million, N. Ireland <2 million.)
