I'm pretty sure I was actually watching the ironic-mustachioed Black Lips at the time. They were pretty mediocre music-wise, but they were an entertaining show.

They were probably doing this:

or this:

Also, I saw way too many people reading Harry fucking Potter between bands:

One of my friends dated a girl who had lived in Boston all her life without going to a Red Sox game. When my buddy, Mrs. 1951Campbell, and I all went to her first ever game, she brought a book to read, because, she said, she heard "baseball was boring."

I was at a party hosted by one of my girlfriends on Saturday. At this party, one of my friends who moved to the US as an adult from Ireland was talking about how funny she found it that the game stops in the 7th and everyone stands up and sings together. The other party guests decided that was because sports are boring and yucky and the monotony needs breaking up somehow.

How am I friends with these people? They also get annoyed when I go to Sox games over hanging out with them.

The Irish broad just thought it was cute that we have the seventh inning stretch. She likes baseball, as beer is served at games. It was the American chicks who were acting like spoiled babies.

You still managed to get drunk by the time you left the party so it wasn't a total loss.

And you shoulda brought the cute Irish chick to my shitty place of residence with you.

I'm tellin ya, we're all a bunch of catty bitches. It's worse than a room full of women.

Or Stockdale. He likes 'em bulky.

Still though, I don't want him inflicting himself on my poor friend, regardless of her size.

Stockdale would give her gentle caresses all night, I'd imagine.

You can just tell he's a cuddler.

One of my only memories of Old Comiskey is getting to our seats and seeing an old guy reading by himself.

I asked my dad what that guy was up to and he said ""

I've brought books/magazines to the park if I'm going by myself.

Or rather, I used to. Since meeting some of you knobs, it's easier finding someone to sit with.

The game doesn't "stop" in the 7th any more so than it does in between any other inning when the teams are switching sides. It's just a tradition to sing a one verse song at that particular time.

a tradition that needs stopping. they should play some motorola adds in it's place.

more m talented players on the White Sox.

We started the 7th inning Scourge, we can end it!!!!!!

I'm gonna start actually stretching really loudly and obnoxiously during it, and the fans will think that I think I'm being funny because I'm stretching, but it won't be the stretching in and of itself that's funny, it's that I'm mocking those who do the stretch thing and grin at each other, thinking that it's actually funny. That's why I'm funny.

Trying to be funny by making fun of other people trying to be funny? You know I can dig that.

Seriously, fuck these cunts... Yeah, you're so smart and serious you can't even display good reading habits, one of which is NOT reading in the middle of a fucking mob at a rock show!!!!

You do this for several reasons, the most important of which is that your brain cannot properly process all of the information you're taking in because it's also trying to process all of the other stimuli around you. So really, you're ruining the book experience for yourself, you douche. Now put the fucking thing down and listen to some shitty music... or go find :jeans:! and buy him beer...

Seriously. I went to a game solo one time, back in '04 and it was pretty uneventful, not to mention freezing cold. But now?

Miller is the rock in all our lives. And not a bad ass if I must say so myself.

Are you talking about me or the beer?

i don't, and never will, get why people who have an active interest in trying to appear smarter than they are, would actively be seen reading a children's book

I was at a game in 1990 when the Sox played the A's in a big series. We were sitting just to the first base side of the net behind home plate in the lower deck and a girl sitting about 8 rows in front of us read a book for the entire game- except for the one second she lowered it and Dave Henderson lined a foul ball right into her face.

It took about 3 minutes. I know I should have created a CGI unicorn coming out of her corsage, but I ran out of time.
