Its amazing the Mets would release a 27 year old after only seeing him for 2 or 3 years and after ZERO big league innings. I remember this guy's name coming up in many Sox trade rumor posts... maybe take a flyer on him? KW likes the cubans...

The New York Mets released right-hander Alay Soler before their exhibition game Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians.

Soler defected from Cuba in November 2003 and signed a three-year contract for $2.8 million with the Mets in August 2004.

They might, though I doubt he gets through the National League teams on the waiver wire.

He was released. Doesn't that make him a free agent?

That's right. For some reason I thought he was DFA'ed.
