Anyone kiped it yet?

Honestly, I can't even tell Johnny Marr is playing on this album. It sounds like every other album they ever made in their career, only this time it's their 5th album, not their 2nd

Well the question is, does that make it any good?

I'm not a MM fan. But I did hear that they are touring with Johnny Marr, guitarist from the Smiths.
He's also on the new album.

Yeah - he's in the band now. He joined and everything.

did you not read the 1st post in the thread? everyone knows marr is in the band

the thing is, he's like irrelevant.

remember when everyone thought he was the genius behind the smiths and then his solo career was a joke and morrissey's was great?

this is further proof that he was almost irrelevant in the smiths

What a god-awful p.o.s album!!

Holy shit. There's a few songs that you can tell they're trying to give the nod to 80's homo-core and Marr's ego, but they all fall flat on their bloated asses.

And for fuck's sake, stop with that annoying-ass "stomp" beat w/ the kick drum on every beat!! It's suck-ass. It's dog-balls. It's doo-doo dipped in duck butter.

Some of the songs don't even sound like they're trying. Ugh... Bad way to start the day. :puke:

If you need me, I'll be listening to Slayer...

The more you listen to anything, the more you're gonna like it. That's not me saying that, it's science.

that's not true at all. for me it's generally the reverse.

for instance, i haven't listened to up the bracket in, like, a month

I think it holds especially true for bands like Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, etc.

It doesn't grab you right away, but listen to it 45 times and you're all about it.

and i've heard that album about 1000 times by now---I refuse to listen to any songs but float on, ocean breathes salty (which I really am kind of sick of actually), Bukowski, and black cadillacs

I haven't revisited it since that first fateful listening. I don't intend to either. I've heard enough MM to know when they're flingin doo-doo. This record is the bastard cousin of their last record. It gave me a similar feeling...

Moon is probably my favorite album by them, so this is teetering on blaspheme... Here's what I'll do.. I'm gonna fire the new one up again right now and get back to this...

moon is mediocre compared to lonesome and their b-sides album (building)

just saying---they lost the FIRE! they got too EXPANSIVE. still moon is a huge step up from good news

I'm a fan of the expansiveness (Floyd fan), so I enjoyed it.. also, the song writing was just really solid--save the throwaways that are essential to every mm album..

Nothing against Lonesome and building (which are probably #3 and 2, respectively, but with Moon they tastefully notched in up while keeping their character... This new shit sounds like they're desperately trying to capitalize on the new wave/disco wannabe crap that supposedly equals "hip" these days. "Hip".. more like "Sucks 800 Dog Asses"
