“Our agent team had meetings to study this case immediately after the draft,” said Yi’s Chinese agent Zhao Gang. “Yi’s selection at six has proved his capabilities and value.

“However, we feel that the Bucks are not the best fit for Yi Jianlian. Our team will make contact with other teams who have watched Yi’s training and games to see if there is any possibility of a trade.”

Some reports had suggested that Yi would refuse to travel to Wisconsin and, if no deal was done, would instead return to the Chinese Basketball Association rather than beginning his NBA career.

He seems just a tad self centered and selfish with this anti-Bucks stance. I wouldn't want him.

I think the Bucks own the rights to Yi in perpetuity now that they've drafted him.

Well Milwaukee was one of the places he said he was not going to go to. Doesn't make it right, but he said he wasn't. They've wanted him to go to a big city with a major Chinese market, Chicago, New York, L.A.

Yeah, that could be.

Still, he's a pussy. 1% of Houston's population is Chinese and I never heard Yao bitch about anything. And Yao's WAY bigger than Jianlian will ever hope to be.

Houston actually has one of the fastest growing Asian populations in the nation. Also, I think it was more important for the Chinese to see Yao go #1 overall than go to a bigger market. When it was clear Yi wasn't going #1, they wanted to put him in the best market they could.
