Charlotte won 4-3 on a clutch, 9th-inning,
bases-loaded hit by Anderson.
Broadway 7 IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 7 H, 4 BB, 8 K, WP.
Sweeney 2-4, 2 R.
Either BA or Sweeney had a big OF assist,
throwing the tying run out at 2B in the 9th.

BHM lost 5-3.
Whisler 7 IP, 5 R.
Hernandez with 2 perfect IP.
Collaro 2-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.

W-S lost 10-6.
RRodriguez 4 IP, 8 R, 6 ER.
They should all be earned, since he
made both errors. That rule blows.
Brooks made his W-S debut facing only
1 batter in the 8th.
Castillo 2-3, 2B, BB, 3 RBI so far.
Cook & Hudson also had 2 hits apiece.
Valido 1-4, BB, R, RBI, 2 SB.

Kanny continued their suspended game
from yesterday and lost 14-4.
Edwards was the extremely tough-luck
loser, since the guys behind him gave up
an inherited run + 12 more of their own.
The I's were the beneficiaries of 12 walks.

LATE GAMES:

Kanny underway in Game 2 with Rasner pitching.

GF also underway with top pick Aaron Poreda
on the mound.

Looks like Bristol is off again.

Story from MiLB.com (http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070629&content_id=266996&vkey=news_t581&fext=.jsp&sid=t581):

It was the game that seemingly couldn't end. The Great Falls White Sox scored four runs early, withstood 12 scoreless innings offensively, but somehow managed to eke out a 5-4 victory Thursday night at Centene Stadium against the Billings Mustangs....Thursday night the local fans got a chance to witness first-hand blazing fastball of first-round draft choice Aaron Poreda to forge an early lead. Then, after Billings tied the score, the Great Falls bullpen did an admirable job as zero after zero appeared on a scoreboard not equipped to handle such an affair....Poreda, the 25th pick in the recent amateur draft out of the University of San Francisco, displayed a fastball that ranged from 94-97 mph during his impressive five-inning stint. The 6-6, 240-pounder allowed an unearned run in the third and a solo homer by Jake Long in the fifth....

It was BA with the putout...

The box says BA, but I listened to the game on the radio.

The ball was hit to RCF, and the announcers said it was Sweeney.

from Jim @ SoxMachine.com:
While Ehren Wassermann and Carlos Vazquez Vasquez pitched two scoreless innings, they can attribute most of their success to their defense. Wiki Gonzalez was 2-for-2 gunning down potential basestealers, and you couldn't ask for better throws -- lasers right on the money. The latter saved Wassermann, because after that, he gave up two straight singles. In the ninth, Barker hit a single off Vasquez, but was thrown out at second by Brian Anderson trying to stretch it into a double.

Anderson is battling shoulder problems, but he responded to the only test he faced, chasing a line drive in the gap, spinning and putting a throw right on the bag before Barker got there. Otherwise, he made a couple of routine catches.

Man, I hope BA's shoulder is ok....
