Chicago Tribune:
4 cub stories
4 sox stories
Chicago SunTimes:
3 cub stories
3 sox stories
3 90-Win Seasons since 1950, 5 90+ Loss Seasons since 1990 CUBS 116
14 90-Win Seasons since 1950, 0 90+ Loss Seasons since 1990 SOX 69
The SOX again are NOT able to gain any ground with media attention today. Incredibly, despite the SOX being the BETTER baseball team since the 1950's, and especially SINCE 1990, The SOX inexplicably continue to lag far far behind in Chicago Media attention. Fred "Cub Lover" Mitchell obviously ran out of material for his column today. So instead of doing a piece on the SOX or doing something SOX related ...........he chooses to write more empty CubFluff on Bill Madlock and what it was like to be a third-baseman. Pulitzer prize material its not. Phil Rogers writes a pretty good piece today, and I have to say I agree with him once again. But the SOX may be doing the right thing too ..............

Hangar, you forgot to mention this subtle hit piece on the Sox...

The always helpful George Knue linked it under White Sox (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/) stories (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/).
:jagoff:
Still no update on the guys involved in the Wrigley murder, though. What were their names again? It's so hard to remember, when they're not repeated ad nauseum for no legitimate reason.
Phil Rogers thinks that Buerhle will not get an extension? That sounds vaguely familiar. I think he already may have mentioned that 9 or 10 times in the past 3 months. (He also promised that Garland would be traded, that KW would build around low-paid guys like McCarthy, and that Vazquez wouldn't get an extension.) I'm still waiting for his 1st "Zambrano won't get an extension" article.

This works wonders for the Trib as they've now set the precedent so that anything that happens to be woefully tragic about the Ligue family for generations to come can trigger an article that reminisces about that "defining day" in White Sox history.
Crack journalism, Trib!!

I've had difficulties in getting many people to buy into the whole Cubune conspiracy that they like to build up the Cubs and Lakeview, while tearing down the Sox and Bridgeport. How can someone NOT see something so blatantly obvious?

I guess I should add an extra "sox" story huh?

Hangar, I'm just curious, you are counting how many stories are in the papers and such about the Cubs and the Sox, but how many of them are Pro-Sox or Anti-Sox versus Pro-Cubs and Anti-Cubs? I think the content of the article means a lot as well as the topic of the article, no?

I swear, the Cubune must have its own ECHELON-esque keyword sniffing system so that whenever any story with any mention of Ligue, Dybas or Skutnik crosses the wires, it gets automatically routed to some special room in the Cubune Tower, where George Knue comes sashaying down a pole in order to decide on what prominent placement it receives...

dang, im sorry, I wasn't ignoring this, dont know why I didnt see this.
I try to point out when I can which ones are NegativeSOX vs CubFluff.
In all my years keeping track of this stuff, it just seems to always be overwhelmingly NegativeSOX stuff I see in the paper. Like Sunday .....I about blew my top with the SunTimes and their continued perpetuating-stereotypical picture display, the one with AJ "the instigator" Pierzynski vs. Michael "the enforcer" Barrett. People see that and immediately thing Good vs. Evil. Thats exactly what the SunTimes and Tribune want you to think. As if standing in front of home plate when you dont have the ball is the NORM in baseball. Michael "the imbecile" Barrett.

The official Sox 'blog (http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_the_white_sox/) makes the same point at length.

nicely done.
I could've sworn that on the SW-Burbs show that was on 11 the other day did a brief thing on the Ligue-wads when they talked about Alsip. I could be wrong though

Does anyone else think Ligue resembles Anthony Kiedis circa Under the Bridge?

Coincidence?
Probably.

If anyone remembers, the Skutnicks were openly Cub fans, and were only at the SOX game because they attended the Cub game earlier that afternoon and were pretty drunk.
Same thing with Dybas. Cub fan who had attended the Cub game earlier that afternoon
and also got pretty drunk. One of the Skutnicks was interviewed about the incident afterwards, he was apologetic, and was wearing his 21 Sosa jersey
Once that revelation got out the everyone of the people who ran the field/attacked umps that nite, all were Cub fans who had attended the Cub game earlier in the afternoon, the Media stopped reporting on them mysteriously.
