A good bullpen doesn't guarantee a postseason berth, but just try to get to the playoffs without one. Last season five of the eight playoff teams had bullpens that finished in the top three in their respective leagues in earned run average.
Which 'pens will lead the way in 2007?

Man I'd kill for Minnesota's bullpen, stats wise.
I can't really argue with their selections, but you really don't know how good a bullpen you have until you start playing, more than any other facet of a team.

I can't complain with their rankings, and I'm not going to go on a rampage saying the Sox should be on the list, but I'd give it another look around May or June. We could easily be up there.

left-hander Dennys Reyes (5-0, 0.89, .197)
Look at this guy's career numbers. He's like Cotts of 2005, but having a much more out-of-the-ordinary year. No way that fatass repeats what he did, or anything close to it.

So would any GM in baseball. However, the Twins only have one starter (assuming Silva sucks again this year) who can consistently pitch into the 7th inning. That bullpen is going to get a lot of work early this year, and I'd expect it to wear down into July.

Look at the facts, Texas Pete.
I get it, you can change your display name.
hilarious.
what facts? the facts that they've had the best rotation in baseball for 5 out of the past 6 years, and this year they've lost two of their best 3 pitchers?
is that the fact you're talking about

That's a fact? Okay...
Like they've never lost key players in the offseason before and overcame it. Oh wait, that's every year. What about when they lost Liriano and Radke down the stretch and still won the division anyway? They produce talent from within, they find ways. They do it just about every year. If you're gonna count them out now you're a damn fool and that's all there is to it.
just like when i was a damn fool in 2005 when i said they wouldn't even finish 2nd?

the twins got a lot worse on paper
at worst, we got slightly worse.
what does that translate to? I don't know, but BFC's analysis sure isn't faulty just b/c the twins have won 4 out of 5 division championships
