For those of yous that had watch said game.. What were your thoughts on him?

I thought he looked very poised, attacked the lower part of the Zone and only had one mistake which was the Rameriez hit. Otherwise I just had a huge smile on my face, asking the question.. How did KW manage to get him and Masset for Bmc.. I will never know.

Man, I hope kennys gamble pays off, and makes the detractors and sox fans notice ............... I liked what I saw from Gio Gonzalez, was my first time seeing him pitch, I can see why we got him back (we never should've included him in the Rowand/Thome trade)

I believe I was one of the few that actually liked the Bmac trade when it happened. I will admit that I was stunned at first because I thought Bmac would get the Sox an established veteran. Not to take anything away from Bmac, but he gave up a lot of HR's at Coors East and it looked like that trend would continue. All we need is only one of the two (of Danks and Masset) to pan out and the trade is a good one. IMO, it really wasn't much of a gamble.

I agree I was there with you.. I actually got wind of the trade on my way home.. Before judging it.. I looked into Danks and Massett I like what I saw and read.. And convinced my Uncle on how it was a good deal for us during Xmas eve Dinner.

Yeah, I never really understood why trading one prospect for 2 arguably better prospects could be considered a gamble on the part of the Sox.

This trade has a much better chance of working out for the Sox.

Some people believe(d) that Brandon is the next "best pitcher in MLB". I was never on that ship. From what I have seen I think he will have a nice MLB career, but I don't think that he is going to be a superstar. SOme Sox fans already had a place in Cooperstown reserved for him and that is why they freaked out when he was traded. That and the fact that they believe that the Sox are "going cheap" and don't plan on contending in the future.

Let's be honest: a lot of Sox fans since October 2005 aren't the brightest Sox fans on the earth. The people who came right down the el from the World's Largest Outdoor Beer Garden to the Southside. These are the people, in my opinion, we hear on the radio saying it's the White Flag trade all over again.

I too was never on the Brandon-wagon. I didn't dislike him in any way, but what I saw was not impressive. I could throw a better fast ball. He's got a solid curve and change, but you need a fastball in the MLB. The most important pitch in baseball, as Hawk always says.

But, he is young. He WILL be good in the major leagues. He will NOT be an ace though. If he ends up being one, I will eat my words. However, I will NOT say it was a bad trade even if McCarthy turns out awesome. I see a career as a 3/4/5 starter for Brandon. Good luck to you, sir.

If you look at Bmac, he throws three pitches: A upper 80's to low 90's fastball, a big 12-6 curveball, and a straight changeup. If he's going to be successful, he need all three to be working on the same day. If he loses one of those pitches, he's going to get rocked. My feeling is that he should either develop a cutter or a different type of changeup such as a circle change. He's not going to blow you away with speed and hitters will lay off the big curveball. I see him as being a 4th or 5th starter with Texas who has problems keeping the ball in the launching pad that is The Ballpark at Arlington.

I was a big McCarthy supporter, but my initial reaction to the trade was: "Texas gave us Danks AND 2 other guys for McCarthy and a total nobody?!? WTF was Texas thinking? Danks for McCarthy STRAIGHT UP would be a bad trade for them."

No. If he pitches well in the minors and somebody in the rotation gets hurt, why not bring him up? He's a lefty with a good fastball, and usually, lefties with good fastballs have success at the MLB level. I'm big on Danks, too, and I could definitely see him making an impact this year.
