View Full Version : Piniella Finally Loses It

I had the Cub game on mute while listening to the Sox and saw it- today was the day of Piniella's first ejection as the Cubs' manager. He got in the face of the 3B umpire because of a questionable call in the bottom of the 8th. After Mt. Piniella's eruption, which included kicking dirt on the ump, throwing his cap and kicking it not once or twice, but four different times, he left the field in disgust. Then, in typical classy Cub fan fashion, the bleacher bums started littering the outfield, just as they did last summer when A.J. hit his go-ahead home run off Dempster. This went on for several minutes and the game was delayed for at least ten minutes. I can't find any pictures yet.
Anyone else see this?!
*Awaits Hangar18's response*
Oh yes, I saw it. Hard to blame him though, his team is taking frustration to a whole new level.

Dunno, but if you watch ESPN or FSC it is on a constant loop. Well, right after the Slug Fest that was Friday. I did find the head line a bit hysterical......
Dugout Slugout...........that's a winner.

i didn't see it, but I heard the play wasn't even close. Pagan started walking back to the dugout, then decided to have a fit..then Lou decides to put on his "show".
What a bunch of broadway bullshit...
Stay classy, Cubs fans.. :jagoff:

He was obviously out on the replay I saw. Piniella even admitted as much after seeing the replay.

It makes his black shoes extremely dirty and removes the high shine and mirror reflection from them. It irks them off because it takes 2 hours to get them just right prior to game time.
Seriously, I have no idea, I think one manager did it, and the rest found it a much better alternative than punching the ump. Although if you have a skipper with chronic halitosis that can be about as bad as a punch.

ESPN just announced that Pinella has been suspended indefinitely by MLB.
Okay, so question, will the MLB take any action against Zambrono or Barrett?

Indefinitely? Like he may never come back? What the hell did he do? More than kick his hat a few times?

I did see a quote from the ump somewhere. He was REALLY pissed at Piniella for whatever it was that he did that was so bad.

i'm tellin ya..it was total show.. the umps/mlb knows it and are giving him and that stupid organization the bird-o-rama...
I believe the insult is kicking dirt onto the bases/home plate, forcing the ump to have to clean them off like a n00b...

Of course it was a total show and he deserves a suspension. I just think "you can come back when we say you can" is kangaroo court-ish.

Why bother? I'm sure they've already sold about 2,800,000 tickets.

Mind you he could be suspended until October for all I care, but I don't seem to remember a suspense as the norm for arguing. He didn't bump into an ump. Because he kicked dirt, his hat? Kinda lame.

My opinion is, if you are a manager, and you get tossed, if you dont Army crawl and throw a Talc grenade, or draw a BIG homeplate, or take 2nd or 3rd base w/ you, Well you just have kinda "mailed it in".

I don't think I've ever seen a manager get suspended for that. Did Pinellia get suspended previous times when he threw the bases around the field?

MLB wont keep a PR goldmine out long from the "pride of the midwest" cubs
It is odd for a long term suspension for that, unless he was warned beforehand and it is why he had been calm so far this season till now. But lou made no contact, so he shouldnt be out indef

You know whats nice ..............
Grouchy Lou has dropped numerous hints the last few weeks that he's not happy with whats going on, and I mean going on behind-the-scenes.
President of company along with GM Jim "The Shyster" Hendry come down to have a "meeting" with him, which was really a private beat-down basically telling him to clam-up, Hendry is in charge, and he is just the manager.
Sweet Lou continues however to drop hints that theres a power struggle and he can't do anything about it (First alluded to here at SATC by yours truly)
