My brother and I have been working very hard on our new website. The site is www.chicagophotoshop.com and we are selling photographs from all around the city. The idea is to capture each neighborhood in the city. (eventually)

We have much more content to add, Bridgeport for example, but we think we have enough to go live for now. I'd really appreciate your feedback, any at all. Please tell your friends and hell maybe even think about buying a print.

Please ask me anything, and give me suggestions to improve it.

Thanks very much.

I don't think so.

:lockie:I only see a red X. :( I understand this constitues spam, but I think we all know I'm not here to spam you. I'm really looking for feedback from you wise fools. :) I promise to share 0.00001% of my profits to SATC.

I'm just kidding. Some of those are really awesome. I'll spread the word whenever I can.

Those Bear ones are spectacular but it's hard to look at them...bittersweet.Thanks very much. I took those bear pictures the night before the Super Bowl when the windchill was like 30 below zero. It was brutal, but they turned out really well.

I'm creating a myspace page for it too. I figure I can get to like 30 million people or so for free.

I'd like to see more neighborhoods represented.Indeed. We are working on that, as soon as the weather clears. If you have any specific suggestions (like exactly what and where you'd like to see) I'd be very happy to hear them. Thanks.

For business, I'd agree with Campbell...try to knock out as many of the big neighborhoods as you can this spring and summer. Go to some of the street fests. Autumn pics. Get the same areas at different times of the year.

Old Town, Uptown, Rogers park, Ravenswood, Lincoln, U of C campus has a lot of potential with all the statues. I think it would be very useful to do the colleges. U of C, Northwestern, DePaul, Loyola, UIC. You could get some outstanding pictures of those campuses in the summer and fall. Thanks, very good ideas. I never really thought about the colleges.

Hegewisch is the southernmost neighborhood in Chicago. Working class folk. I haven't been there in some time. There's gotta be somethin' to capture on film.

Hey cbot, as I told you before, your stuff is great! I was wondering, have you thought at all about getting some of the transportation systems in Chicago on there? I think that would be really neat to get some shots of the el, especially when you're in the loop.

Oh, cool! Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. You should try some shots while you're on the el too, I think it would be cool to get that perspective of being on the train and seeing the tracks and the buildings in front of you and everything. I'm not really a photographer, though... just a thought. :D

I'll have my brother reply to you about this one, he is more tech when it comes to cameras. And its an awesome hobby, just bring your camera and stroll around downtown sometime and you'll be amazed at some shots you'll get.

I checked out those Nikons and looks like they were hitting the $1000's. I really want to keep it under $500 for now, being new to this and all. I want to see if I like it before dropping that kind of dolla.

yea thats the problem. photography is a very expensive hobby. a good SLR with a decent lens will go for at least 700-800 bucks. and a wide angle lens, add another 500.

like cbot said, I started with a d100 with a nikkor 28-200mm lens for 750.

the one you posted is good and will be a good starter camera.

Anyhoo, I have a friend who is a photographer, and my daughter is really considering this line of study in college, along with political science, but I digress. Anyhoo, we were talking about a new camera, and I said pretty much the same thing Mega said. His response was "Just bite the bullet and spend the money. For another couple hundred bucks, you get the better camera, and you will kick yourself when you realize you need a bigger one, and you can not come anywhere close to recouping your money, knowing that at the time, you coulda had what you wanted in the first place."

I forgot to tell you.

GriffinFest 2007 was canceled. Instead of clubbing Griffins we were forced to club sacks of pigeons. We tried to make them look like Griffins, even as much as putting a fake mane on the part of the sack we tied, but to no avail. It did end like it normally does, with everyone participating getting drunk and shooting our guns wildly into the air.
