View Full Version : Cubs mojo not working...

I had this little "discussion" with a few Cubbie fans about the Sox/Cubs and how winning the crosstown series has "propelled" teams onward. It is my opinion that in looking at the results of the Crosstown series it's does not appear to have actually happened. For example the '05 Sox split with the Cubs.

Facts aside, these Cubbie fans were sure that this "big" series win against the Sox would be the thing to "propel" the Cubbies. After yesterdays loss to the Padres the Cubbies have now lost two straight.

When I think of propel I'd say it means being propelled up, not downward.

On another rant...

These Cubbie fans were sure that Rich Hill & Jason Marquis would continue pitching at sub-3 ERA. On the other hand, they were sure that Carloss Zambrano would start doing better and pitch closer to his career ERA. I agreed that I thought Carloss would at some point pitch closer to his career ERA and that Marquis would do the same. I said too that Rich Hill would return to earth.

These Cubbie fans were sure that the law of averages would work only in their teams favor with Carloss but not with Marquis returning to a close to 5 ERA.

Lately when someone starts talking baseball, I immediately ask them who their team is. If they say the Cubs, I stay out of it as best I can. They aren't exactly the smartest fan base around. In fact, they might be the dumbest fanbase in MLB. They fail to use logic in their arguments.

After winning two from the White Sox, wins which were to "propel" the Cubbies, they've now lost three straight.

I never count on that series propelling either team.

It's been proven over the years that you can pretty much throw out all the stats for that series because literally anything can happen.

Cubs are up and down team at best.

That's all.
