I was watching "Gridiron Gang," tonight and had a question about the Rock. This move was starring Duane "The Rock" Johnson, but in other movies he is called 'The Rock.' Does Vince McMahon own the rights to that name, and thus, own a portion of what Duane Johnson makes off any movie that uses that name?

i'm neither sfv or 1951, but the reason he's doing that is because he's trying to disassociate himself from his wrestling persona in order to become a legitimate movie star.

Ideally, in his mind, at some point if you said a movie was starring "Dwayne Johnson" everyone would know who you were talking about.

Johnson owns the rights to the name now. When he first started in movies, WWE owned the name and McMahon got some type of producer credits.

What everyone above said, but also, its because more people know him as the rock rather than johnson.(or rocky maivia) So he is making a feeble attempt to become legit

Its up to the actor, in "see no evil" kane is billed by his real name, glen jacobs( as kane)

Free legal advice: Pennsylvania could be the most byzantine, expensive state in the union to get a legal name change. Avoid doing that here.

I directed it towards Stockdale because I know he is into wrestling and might have known the answer.

I also directed it to Campbell because he is a lawyer and could possibly explain any type of contract or legal issue that Stockdale might have answered with.
