BALTIMORE -- The Indians made several moves Monday, putting starter Jake Westbrook on the 15-day disabled list, recalling fellow right-handers Fausto Carmona and Edward Mujica from Triple-A Buffalo and designating right-hander Jason Davis for assignment.
The move with Westbrook was because of a strained left abdominal muscle and is retroactive to Wednesday, when he was pulled from his start against Toronto after going just 1 1/3 innings. It's the first time he's been on the disabled list since 2001.
Carmona (2-1, 3.76 ERA) made his fifth start of the season Monday, when he took the mound against the Orioles. He shut the Orioles down last Sunday, holding them to one run and six hits in a career-best 8 1/3 innings -- but he was optioned back to Buffalo last Tuesday.
