A quote in a friend's away message really bothered me.

The average White Sox fan spends 6 months of their life in prison.

What the fuck? Who comes up with this shit? What do they base this off of? It's not even good natured ribbing, it's getting offensive and racist, because let's be honest. When Cub fans talk about the "ghetto" around the Cell, they aren't referring to the South Side Irish. They think it's dangerous to go to Sox games because black people live around the park. Ridiculous, I know.

They hit new lows every day.

And just so I make this clear: it is hard to offend me.

Maybe it was a ghetto about 10 years ago, but the areas around the ballpark are going on the upside. Especially if the Olympics come here.

Well yeah, every intelligent person knows this. But we're talking about Cub fans here. They believe whatever the Tribune throws at them.

I got the 'attendance' joke Thursday from a Cubs fan..I had bought an UD ticket to Sunday's KC game and someone asked me why I didn't buy one for Anthony...I stated I would buy one at the window in the morning since they are $1.00 on Kids Day and this guy goes..'yeah..Sox games are empty anyway..so why'd you bother buying a ticket so far in advance..'..

I guess they think this is still 1998...

Okay. I've already played in one, and I lost in the first round. That was chopper challenge, though. I'll never get the top score in that one.

I met some women at Moe's Cantina after the ball game on Saturday. One was a cubs fan and the other was a sox fan. The sox fan turns to me and says that it is ridiculous how into the cubs her friend is. She goes on to rattle all of the junk her friend owns and then turns to me and says, "and then she wonders why she can't ever get a man..." I almost spit my beer out. Quite amusing to say the least.

Read what someone sent to me:

TO ALL SOX FANS....A LITTLE INFO ABOUT YOUR CRAPPY TEAM......
YOU SAY THAT YOUR TEAM IS THE BEST. BIG DEAL THEY WON THE WORLD SERIES. CONGRATULATIONS. SO HAVE 99 OTHER TEAMS SINCE 1903.............................................. . TAKE A LOOK AT THIS:

38TO23....THATS THE NUMBER OF CUBS TO sox PLAYERS IN THE HALL OF FAME

14 to10.... THATS NUMBER OF CUBS TO sox MANAGERS IN THE HOF.

THE CUBS WON BACK-TO-BACK WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 1907-1908.

the sox have never won back to back championships

sure the sox swept the astros in 2005, and THE CUBS SWEPT THE TIGERS IN 1907

the sox have had 5 World Series appearences.
THE CUBS HAVE HAD 10.

THE CUBS HAVE HAD 2 PLAYERS ENTER THE HALL IN THE PAST TWO YEARS, RYNE(RYNO) SANDBERG IN 2005, AND BRUCE SUTTER IN 2006. BRUCE RECEIVED 400 votes on 520 ballots(76.9%), AND RYNO RECEIVED 393 votes on 516 ballots(76.2%)

RYNO WAS A 10 TIME ALL STAR, THE 1984 NL MVP, AND WON 9 CONSECUTIVE GOLD GLOVES

BRUCE WON THE 1979 NL CY YOUNG AWARD, SAVED AT LEAST 20 GAMES PER SEASON FOR 9 CONSECUTIVE SEASONS, AND SET A NL RECORD ON 45 SAVES (WHICH WAS LATER BROKEN BY ANOTHER CUB, ROD BECK WITH 51 IN 1998) IN 1984. HE RETIRED WITH 300 CAREER SAVES AND A 2.84 ERA.

The last white sox player that entered the hall of fame was carlton fisk in 2000

the sox have never had back-to-back players or managers enter the hall of fame

yeah, the cubs have lost a couple world series, but at least they lost em fair and square.

ITS THE TRUTH SOX FANS.......................

P.S. How often do your games sell out??

if you are a true cubs fan repost this to everyone to show how much u dislike the sox

Read those. You notice anything? Few have to do with WINNING, and the ones that have to do with winning are old as shit.

And it ends with the attendance thing. They sure like to dwell on a few year span.

They always bring up stupid shit like attendence and their century old championships because it's all they have. Really, who gives a shit how many hall of famers they have? The Marlins have zero, but they have just as many championships as the Cubs do.

In my experience, these hateful racist, socio-economic put-downs of Sox fans are widely used and widely accepted by Cubbie fans. Next time you hear a Cubbie fan make these smears pay careful attention and listen for rebukes from Cubbie fans. It rarely, if ever, happens.

And it's not just your nominal Cubbie fan who makes these slurs. I've heard them on the radio (WGN, WLS, etc.) from the program hosts. I've read these slurs in the Cubune and the Sun-Times. In all the times I've heard those slurs, I can I think of once where the spewer was rebuked, and that was on a blogger message board.

Next time you hear one of these smears from a Cubbie fan, respond with the Pujols joke (What do Cub fans AND Cardinals fans have in common? They both love Pujols.) or if it's an email that you've received perhaps send them this photo...

http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrosby101/Im%20out.jpg

Now watch what usually happens. Total recoil. The shock. "How could you (Sox fan) say such a thing?"

It's not right but sometimes it's fun and satisfying to fight fire with fire.

Next time you hear one of these smears (ghetto, dangerous, etc.] from a Cubbie fan, respond with the Pujols joke [etc.]

Or you could just call them what they are . . . a bunch of racists. They hate and fear the South Side and the West Side, and cower in their lilly white enclaves because they hate and fear the black man. More evidence required? Ask Jacque Jones and Latroy Hawkins about the racial slurs directed at them by Cub fans. Even super-fan-friendly Derrick Lee acknowledged that Cub fans have done this several times.

:racist:

And then you can get back to the part where their team really sucks and can't win shit.
