Both Chicago rags today weep openly and gnash their corporate teeth over the "outrageous" snubbing of Ron Santo into the Hall Of Fame. We are led to believe that not only was this a travesty, but that fans should call for an Inquiry and to change the system (from 75%) to 70%, which will be enough to let Oaf Santo in. How come Inquiries and Rule Change Committees wern't being brought up when Minnie Minoso wasn't elected to the HOF?

I like Santo. He's cool and a decent guy. I still don't think he belongs in the HOF as a player. He only gets the votes he gets because people feel sorry for him and because the trib lobbies for him. He is all over their paper the last 2 days. They make like it's a global tragedy or something. Some of their writers must have had promotions or raises riding on his election or something. They really gotta get the hell over themselves.
