The Times Union has learned that investigators in the year-old case, which has been kept quiet until now, uncovered evidence that testosterone and other performance-enhancing drugs may have been fraudulently prescribed over the Internet to current and former Major League Baseball players, National Football League players, college athletes, high school coaches, and a former Mr. Olympia champion and another top contender in the bodybuilding competition.
The customers include Los Angeles Angels centerfielder Gary Matthews Jr., according to sources with knowledge of the investigation.

Yeah, I'll chalk this one up as not surprising. I wonder when they find out he was moving it to DeRosa.

As soon as DeRosa's joints and tendons flare up and he goes on the DL. Should be sometime soon.:D
I said it on another site when the Halos signed Mathews Jr. that it was a mistake and he would be a flop and stuck paying him for 5 years. I guess time will tell.

I wouldn't be too quick to implicate Matthews. Remember when the Pettite, Clemens, and Gibbons report came out? It turned out that Grimsley said those names would never use steroids when he was asked, but the damn reporters leaked the names to the media and nothing else. I'm a big Matthews fan and he is one of the best defensive CF's of our time.

Matthews' name is on a customer list, not in an interview transcript.

Regardless of the circumstances of this one, I am just saying that I have learned to take whatever I hear about steroids with a grain of salt because of the deceit that is involved in this kind of talk.

If they are going to name names ........ I wish they'd get on with it already.
This would explain why Gary Mathews Jr became good suddenly .......

evidentially, it was HGH:
Yes. According to law enforcement documents we've reviewed, Matthews is not just on a customer list, as was reported Tuesday. In August 2004, he was allegedly sent Genotropin -- a brand of synthetic human growth hormone typically prescribed to children suffering from growth failure -- at an address in Mansfield, Texas. We traced the address and it is the residence of a former minor league teammate of Matthews', who told us that he is friends with Matthews.
