No Parties...
No Flags...
No Gimmicks...
No Bullpuckey...

Come on in and declare your independence from all party affiliation. Unless, you still belong to the Whigs, say it proud because they were the SHIT!!

It would be quite unfair to have a fresh, nublile whore of a political forum and let it get mired in the petty bickering passing as dialogue that has come to define major party politics in the modern age.
This is where the uber-peoples come to piss on your pancakes and smack your heiney red with wikipedia links. Then we discuss the documentary "The US vs. John Lennon" and sing "Mind Games" forever...pushing barriers, planting seeds...

Well, I am registered as an independent.

The question is: "For how long??"

I already said on WSJ (I think) that I'm switching my registration to Republican so I can vote for Ron Paul (R-TX)* in the primary. But we're gonna buy a house soon, so I'll wait until I know where I'm gonna live in 2008.

I'll probably leave it Republican, actually, because my county is heavily Republican and if you want any real say in who the judges, district justices, etc. are, you should be registered as a Republican.

Yeah, you did mention him. As with all Libertarians, I agree wholeheartedly with some aspects and find them dangerously avoidant in other aspects.

I guess it depends on what brand of Republicans reside in your county, but how do you figure changing your affiliation is going to give you more say?

It's like in Chicago how the Democratic primary for mayor is essentially what decides who is mayor. Same thing with elected officials in this county, only the Republicans are dominant.

Changing your party affiliation so you can vote in primaries does not actually make you more powerful nor does it get you on the inside of corrupted power.
How does your logic work?

You gotta have money baby....not a vote...

How's this for independent?
Voted Nader instead of Gore
Last time Kerry
Next time, I am Giuliani if Hillary is the other option.

Uh, How 'bout them Sox?

Mickey Mouse is the only rational choice in that scenario.

Speaking of Guiliani, I'm suprised how well he's doing in the polls. I know it's only March 2007, but still.

I'll attribute that to the public still being 9-11 centric in their opinions of the guy. As the race heats up, more will come out.

We have yet to see Rovian shenanigans in all their sick, twisted glory.

What else could be better dirt than than "married cousin" and "divorced wife via press conference" and "make me mayor for life?" People seem to know this and seem not to care.

True. Standards of excellence have declined significantly over the last several years.

It's weird for me..I grew up on the South Side as a Republican..this was because I usually go outside the norm and everyone I knew told me "you're supposed to be a Democrat" so I said.."you can't tell me what I am..!" and I became a Republican mainly just to tick off my family and friends..

Plus Chicago politics was always crooked to me..so I was more involved with the Republicans locally from my early teens to my mid 20's.

As I entered my 20's and 30's..I moderated..I am probably more an Independant now to Leans Democrat. But I vote both Democrat and Republican (increasingly Democrat as I grow older..but will still vote for a Republican if I like the candidate).
